At the 'Space Development Policy Forum' hosted by the The Korean Federation of Science and Technology Societies, Korean space companies gathered to point out the lack of consistency in the government's space development policy and argued that this issue should be addressed through the establishment of the Korea Space Agency scheduled for May.

During the forum, which was voluntarily organized by various stakeholders from academia, industry, and government agencies to make Korea a space power, notable participants included Paul Yoon, a professor of mathematics at El Camino College in the United States and NASA ambassador, Taesik  Lee, Chairman of the Federation of Korean Science and Technology Societies, and Jaehyung Lee, Head of the Ministry of Science, ICT, and Future Planning's Korea Space Agency Establishment Task Force.

During the discussion, Dongchun Seo, Managing Director of CONTEC (pictured on the far right), pointed out that there is a lack of support for the space industry and emphasized the need for more government attention. He also highlighted CONTEC's plan to expand the number of ground stations to 15 worldwide this year and expressed willingness to install dedicated antennas on the ground station sites if requested by NASA. Furthermore, he mentioned plans to establish ground stations using laser optical communication and expressed hope for collaboration with NASA.

Experts at the forum emphasized the importance of international cooperation and domestic academia-industry collaboration in the rapidly changing space environment. With the upcoming launch of the Korea Space Agency in May, they expressed hope for bold innovation, support for the ecosystem of academia, industry, and government, and the setting of ambitious goals to revitalize the industry.
